Book Review: When She Was Me

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Just wrapped up When She Was Me by Marlee Bush, and I have to say—total 5-star read! Even more impressive, it’s her debut novel. Now I’m even more excited to see what she comes up with next.

The story dives into the lives of twin sisters, Cassie and Lenora, who are living in an isolated cabin. Things take a wild turn when a new owner takes over the place and rents out the third cabin. Cue the creepy, unexplainable happenings and buried secrets bubbling up between them. You can sense there’s a lot under the surface, but you’re not handed everything at once.

It’s packed with jaw-dropping twists—especially the ending! I listened to the audiobook, so no “page-turner” moments, but trust me, I couldn’t hit pause. What stood out most for me? The way every twist felt so natural. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, I was completely off-track. Loved every second of it!
