We all have those days right, where you just come home from work and feel, well icky. You are not alone because I have days like that also and it can have a huge impact on my physical and mental health. So I thought I would share with you 3 scenarios I face often and what I do to make myself feel better!
Sitting in front of a screen all day
This is one of the worst, in my opinion. If I spend a good deal of my day in front of a screen I end up coming home with a strange headache, feeling grumpy, and extra tired. This makes me more short with my family and I’m usually not in a good mood which is frustrating because my time at home should be enjoyable! To solve this one when I get home I unplug. I don’t go near my laptop and I avoid my phone as much as I can. Then I get myself outside! I go for a walk, do some yoga, or just run around the backyard with my kids. Getting outside in the sunshine gives me that quick pick me up I need to feel refreshed for the rest of my night!
The Constant To Do List
I know you have one of these also. The thing with to do lists is things usually just keep adding onto the end which make them overwhelming. If you are waiting to enjoy yourself when your list is done, then you may be waiting a really long time. This does not give you the refreshed feeling you are after and can leave you feeling constantly drained. I totally get this though, I have a long to do list also and we get trapped in the, just one more thing, mentality. Time to put an end to that.
When I find myself doing this, I do 2 things. First I make a do and done list. I write things on my to do list that HAVE to get done today and once it’s completed I’m done for the day. Or I schedule fun into my to do list. Maybe it’s to do my workout, or have a catch with my boys, whatever it is, if you aren’t doing the fun things, trying scheduling it in!
Sitting for long periods of time
This one is rough also and I know so many of you work at a desk all day so sitting is part of the job. This definitely leaves me drained and I end up coming home feeling extra tired and completely unmotivated. Luckily there is a quick fix to this one. Whenever I am going to be sitting at my desk for a long time I make sure to get up and go for a walk a few minutes during each hour. It sounds silly but just getting up and moving for 2-3 minutes each hour will make a huge difference. It gives your brain a break and gets your blood pumping a bit! Total win!
So there you have it, my go to tips for feeling refreshed after a stressful day at work! I covered 3 pain points here and I know there can be so many more but I definitely didn’t want to overwhelm you. If you need suggestions for other situations please, comment and let me know! I’m sure you aren’t alone and I’d love to help out!
